Our Direct Catalog Solution provides the ability to create a targeted print catalog using promotions and campaigns from the WebSphere Commerce software database, which can then be mailed or sent via PDF to a customer segment (also from the database). Retailers can run targeted campaigns and deliver personalized catalogs that make offers based on customers' recent purchases or Web site browsing. Retailers can use the targeted catalogs to push the sales of items that need to be cleared from inventory. Another benefit is that the pricing and promotions can be very specific to the customer and their buying and shopping patterns, helping to greatly improves customer loyalty and revenue.

Of all of the retail channels, the print catalog is the most siloed. Often the data (for example, products, pricing and promotions) from catalog sales is not shared with the other channels and the process of developing the catalog is also unique. And very few catalogs are customized, meaning all customers regardless of purchase habits receive the same catalog. Additionally, customers often find that products in the catalog or on Web sites are not available in stores. What's more, the pricing or discounts don't reflect individual customer's buying patterns.
